Do you sometimes wish you could dress more stylishly, but you feel like you don't have the right pieces in your wardrobe or that your outfits are too plain? Well, you aren't alone. I'm sure many people have felt this way, myself included. Accessories can change the look of your entire outfit though! The right accessories can take your outfit from being blah to beautiful!

Accessories Every Girl Should Have in Her Closet

In the photos on this post, I wear the same black pants and striped top, but I match it with different accessories to create a few different looks. With just one shirt and a pair of pants, you can create a variety of outfits.

Today, I'm going to share these accessories with you. These are the accessories that will take your outfit up a few notches and they are easy to incorporate into your outfit. There is nothing like trying to create an outfit when it seems that none of your accessories will match it!

It's a good idea to have a bunch of basic pieces in your closet, like a high-quality pair of jeans and black and white tee shirts that you can easily dress up with one or two accessories to make a classy outfit. I have had a capsule wardrobe for a few years now and it has made my life sooo much easier! I'm not exaggerating either. After I created my capsule wardrobe, it has been a lot easier for me to create outfits and my style has improved immensely as I started receiving more compliments on what I wear.

No more standing in front of your closet for minutes on end trying to decide what to wear! Start with a basic outfit and then add a few accessories and you will be ready to go!

And now let's get onto the accessories you can add to your closet to take your outfits up a notch!

Accessories Every Girl Should Have in Her Closet

1. Sunglasses

Sunglasses always make an outfit look more put together, and sunglasses go with every outfit. You can just have your sunglasses in a pocket or your handbag for easy access.

It's an easy way to look like you stepped out of a magazine or you are an off-duty model. Who doesn't want those perks?!

Sunglasses don't have to be super expensive either so it's a good idea to have a pair (or two or three) in your closet! The only downside to sunglasses is that you don't wear them inside.

2. Minimalist Jewelry

Jewelry might take a little bit more effort than sunglasses because you have to learn how to mix and match it so it looks chic and well done, but not over the top, but it is a guaranteed way to look more put together.

I would recommend having at least a few different pieces of jewelry of varying types and styles. I prefer to go with minimalist jewelry because it is very easy to mix and match and it looks timeless, but you might prefer a different type. Just don't buy jewelry that looks cheap and don't go over the top and wear too much jewelry.

It's best to use jewelry to compliment your outfit and to not wear jewelry that steals the show. For example, wearing earrings, multiple bracelets, a few necklaces, and rings on almost every single one of your fingers will make it look like you are trying too hard.

Instead, you might wear a pair of earrings and a ring or a necklace and a bracelet.

3. A Stylish Hat

Whether it's a beret, a beanie, or a baseball cap, a hat can be a very nice addition to your outfit. I bought a beret from Amazon last year and I love how it can take any outfit from looking boring to stylish in just a second. It gives every outfit a Parisian look, so if you are wanting to look chic I definitely recommend buying one.

Plus, a hat does not have to be expensive either! I bought my hat for less than $15. Plus, it will keep your head warm in winter so it's a win-win situation either way.

4. A Dainty Watch

Now this one will be more expensive, but it is definitely worth it because a watch will be functional and it should last for a long time if you buy a high-quality one. If you buy a cheap-looking watch though, it might take the whole look of your outfit down though, so be careful what your watch looks like.

Some smartwatches now even look classy, so if you are looking for something that will make your life easier in more ways than one, you will not be disappointed.

5. Hair Accessories

The right hairstyle will definitely make you look chic. Plus, it can be boring having your hair in the same style all of the time.

If you feel like your outfit is boring, it might be because you need to do something different with your hair. This tip will be especially helpful if you are on a tight budget. You can learn new hairstyles for free, and it will definitely change up your outfit.

Every girl should have a few different hairstyles in her back pocket so make sure you have a few hairstyles that you can do well! Having messy hair or a messy hairstyle will take away from your outfit.

It might be a really easy hairstyle, like wearing a headband or sticking your hair in a low ponytail, but it can still change the whole look of your outfit.

6. A Belt (Maybe Even a Couple)

If you feel like your outfit is boring, you can tuck in your shirt halfway or all of the way. The only problem with doing this is that it might make your outfit look like it is lacking. The solution is to add a belt. It's a good idea to have a few that you can alternate in between.

It's best to purchase some high-quality belts that will last a long time and won't fall apart. If your belt looks cheap, it might make your outfit look less stylish, instead of more stylish.

7. Bold Lipstick

Want some more confidence, anyone? An easy way to look more put together instantly is to put on a bold red lip with a monochrome black and white outfit.

Plus, if you don't want to have to put on a full face of makeup, just using a bold red lipstick will be a big win!

Make sure you pick a lipstick that compliments your skin tone. While there are some shades that are purplish tinted or orangish tinted, if you want to look classic and chic, your best bet is to go with a nice red tone.

8. A Handbag

A handbag can make a great addition to your outfit and it can pull your entire outfit together. Just make sure that your handbag doesn't look cheap.

It doesn't have to be expensive, but you want to buy handbags that will not get dirty quickly and won't wear down quickly or get squashed out of shape.

I would also recommend going with a smaller bag, rather than a large one, to avoid looking like you are carrying around a beach tote, which doesn't exactly scream classy.

Add a few of these to your outfit and you'll be ready to go! Just remember that less is more, so if you think you are wearing too many accessories, you probably are!
