Today I have all of the myths laid out so you can decide for yourself if it is right for you.

I have a capsule wardrobe and I love it! ...But I am not going to let that influence how I write this post. I promise! :)

7 Common Misconceptions About Starting a Capsule Wardrobe

1. It is Too Expensive

Yes, some people would say that having a capsule wardrobe is too expensive because you buy more expensive pieces so that they last longer. In my capsule wardrobe though, it is not a problem. I am able to find pretty good quality pieces for not that much.

2. I Won't Have Enough to Wear

In a Capsule Wardrobe, you cut your wardrobe back to fewer pieces, but that doesn't mean that you will have less to wear, because every item you have you love, and all of your pieces look good on you.

I have around 30-35 pieces in my wardrobe, and I can create over 500 OUTFITS. Is that what you would call not having enough to wear?

3. It Will Take Too Long to Create

Yes, your capsule wardrobe will take time to make, but you will still have plenty to wear while you are creating it. I liked creating my capsule wardrobe and, of course, it depends on how quick you are doing your shopping.

4. I Will get Bored With my Wardrobe

Your capsule wardrobe is an ongoing process. It will change as your pieces are no longer wearable and you will have to buy new ones. If your wardrobe is in the right colors, and you look great in every piece, then you shouldn't get bored with it.

5. My Clothes Will go out of Style and Then I Will Have Nothing to Wear

A capsule wardrobe is made of pieces that are timeless so that you can wear them all of the time. A capsule wardrobe is about buying clothes which you look good in and make you feel confident and happy when you wear them. If you feel confident and happy when you wear your capsule wardrobe, then it doesn't matter if they are in style or not.

6. A Capsule Wardrobe Can Only Have Neutral Colors

This is partly true. Your capsule wardrobe should center around one to two neutral colors, but it doesn't have to have only neutral colors in it.

7. Your Wardrobe has to Have This Specific Number of Items in it

Some say that the magic number is thirty, others say it is forty, and others say that it is only 25. Who do you believe? I think that when deciding how many items you should have in your capsule wardrobe, you should find out what works for you. Because what works for me isn't going to work for everyone.
